Freckles 1 Personal best egg weight 32grms 20.03.2006

Notice anything different above?

I just can not contain my excitement, the London Ladies must be feeling a bit more settled.

On the left is Ginger's egg weighing in at 78 grms which is two and threequarter ounces. On the right is one of the bantie eggs laid in the hide in the hedge, weighing in at 31 grms which is one ounce.

Silly - but I am overjoyed. Worth getting soaked in torrential rain early this morning to see to them! Especially as I had said on the Omlet Forum that they were too posh to push

Back this afternoon with todays update.

  1. HaHaHa! great blogs today AL!
I wonder though, if there might be other eggs 'lurking' in the hedge and hides? How on earth will you ever know which LL laid them?LOL!

You'll need more eggs per wedges on Thursdays LOL!

Took some pics of the garden yesterday but they were wobbly to say the least! still, have one of a 'baby' potato, complete with 'dummy'! Will try and post it on my blog.

Luke! He's gorgeous! He looks so content too. Reckon he'll break a few hearts when he's much older....

Like the quilt and quilted Teddy, is the Teddy a playmat or something like that?

Going over to my sisters' soon, going to look at a couple of houses near to her village in another village. wish me luck!

On a sad note, have decided to give up my allotment, as I couldn't bear to sow all my seeds etc and not have the benefit of reaping them myself. Going over there over the next week or so to clear the carpets, finish the last bit of clearing and sort out the shed. Still, had fun down there.

  2. Sorry to hear about the allotment, the move is going to be this year then asap. How exciting

I am going to let the banties sleep in their own new Eglu tonight so hopefully they will now lay them in there. I still won't know who laid which unless they are different colours. It is nice that they are starting to lay as it means that they are getting settled and happy.

That is such a relief - I must be doing something right.

Hope the house hunting goes well

LOL Im happy for the banties too and they arent even mine :)
You have inspired me with all your talk of drying fruit and veg and I now have a new dehydrator. Im drying some apple rings and some sliced mushrooms. The combined smell is a little strange .so exciting!Cant wait for them to be dry.My 15 YOLD thinks im a bit mad.

  4. Just a bit of warning about mushrooms.

They should be done on their own, and not indoors for the first time - as they can cause severe headaches and side effects!

I had them on in my conservatory and the door closed one night so it didn't effect me - hope it doesn't effect you.

My over 30's sons think the same of me I am sure - or happily eccentric - but they do enjoy my food and the goodies they get so do not complain (to me anyways) LOL

ooh lucky I did them by the back door then.Weve got a cupboard there that used to be the downstairs loo and has the cat flap for very effective ventilation. They dried out okay and the apple rings are not far off.I can see I'll have to find a book about it.
    Thanks AL
