I might not get time to update this tonight or for a couple of days. Pat is home tonight and we are off to water some things up the lottie - only had that little shower Monday morning, and no rain forecast until a least Tuesday and that is not certain.

The tomato plant leaves are curling under so emergency water called for!

Son, daughter in law, and baby coming tomorrow for the weekend too! So looks like a busy time.

If I don't fit in a post or two on here - you will have plenty to read on Sunday night.

Have a great weekend.

Best wishes

  2. It's the trials and tribulations; rabbits, not enough rain, too much rain, greenfly, blackfly, slugs, vandals (of the human and insect kind) that make growing such a challenge. But it is worth it in the end. At least that's what I keep saying to myself.

Enjoy your weekend off - although I suspect you'll be doing more when you're not busy than most of us do when we are.

Hi Lottie: I've been doing a bit of an experiment with my tomatoe crop up at my allotment. My main crop is Marmande; this tom grow too big to be plastic tub raised in my garden. I've also planted three Stupice and three Black Prince toms at my allotment as well. The Marmande plants get watered twice a week) our allotment has water on site) but I havent been watering the stupice or the Black Prince toms. These plants can really take the heat! I've about six trusses on each with little baby toms starting to grow out. I;ve several Stupice and Black Prince tom plants in buckets in my garden and just picked my first tomato from the Stupice plant..lovey sweet/smokey flavour!

We did have a nice rain storm eariler in the week but like your area, up until then the rain clouds have been few and far inbetween!

Hope your weekend is going well. Look forward to your update.

  4. Patsy - thank you so much - still no rain and none forecast. It is hotter than ever!

Methuselah- every word true - and funny you should mention hard work on my weekend off ---more of that when I get some energy

Hello Dado dame - lovely to hear about your experiment - and I like the unusual sounding tomatoes. You must let me know how you get on.

My toms up the allotment are bearing up well considering. But temperatures are in the 30c's here, and not rain, just one tiny short shower on Monday last.

It sure is tough growing things this year - a big challenge.
